FRANKFURT AGAIN!!!!

After came back from frankfurt late night on Sunday, on Monday I had to wake up early to prepare Pradani's stuff for a day at Oma's house, as I had to leave to Frankfurt again at 8.00 AM. With the different 'team'.

This 'happy team' was actually a 'coincidence team'. It was a chat over a cofffee with Jacqueline about a month ago. She told me that she never went to Frankfurter Fair. As she is in fashion business, her regular Fair to visit is of course the Düsseldorfer Fashion Fair. She asked me whether Frankfurter Fair is interesting to visit. I told her that the best one is to visit Ambiente on February, though they do have a smaller fair on August. Then somehow we talked about the possibillity to go there together.

We almost forgot that conversation, until a week before the fair we talked on the phone and talked again about going to Tendence. At the same time, came an e-mail From Singgih telling me that his german business partner exhibited Singgih's Magno Radio on the fair.

So the plan became real. Adding Miranti in our 'team' as she also had a plan to make some report for the fair and anyway I had the feeling to drag her to make some report about Magno Radio, as it is a result of a great concept and it is not in anyway a regular indonesian product presented in the fair. Not even together with other indonesian stands that is regularly arranged by EKONID.

I was talking to Oliver, Singgih's partner, that was very enthusiastic about Singgih's product and consequently looking only for buyers who could understand and could apply Singgih's concept. My respect, Oliver!

WASSERSPINNE

Eating 'Bami goreng' and 'Mi Nudel' that tasted like boiled noodles with salt only in one of the fair's bistro, we were craving for the original asian food, the best would be indonesian, of course.

I remembered that I ate in 'Wayang' somewhere in Frankfurt, and asked Miranti whether she could call her contact in the consulate to ask about the address I forgot. To our dissapoinment, the restaurant does not exist anymore. Though the contact told her that there is a malaysian chinese serving some chinese food that is similar like in indonesia.

We went around 'Münchenerstr' as the given address from the contact, without finding the restaurant. Out of desperation, we decided to park near Münchenerstr and almost went into the 'Sze Chuan restaurant' which appearance, including the pictures of the food was very inviting.

Though Miranti was still willing to look for the restaurant her contact told her. So, half hearted, hungry, with sore feet after 8 hours walking in the Fair, we decided to agree to try finding it.

We saw the restaurant with the mentioned name after a while walking in the area. It was definately not in the Münchenerstr! Though for our confusion, there was another restaurant with the same name, in the same street, just the opposite!

After calling again Miranti's contact, we went to the first restaurant. Hearing 'Apakaba?' from the waitress, we were sure that it was the right one.

Panicking to order 'Nasi goreng ikan asin', 'Kangkung belacan', 'Bakso ayam kuah', 'Duck Kanton Style', I did not realize what was happening, as the waitress said something to Jacqueline and she made a 'horror' expression and said: "No, not for me, I order other thing!". I was surprised, because I know Jacqueline normally behaving diplomatically to something she does not really like.

After the waitress went, Jacqueline asked us: "Do you like eating water-spider?". We raised eyebrows: "What??!!!"

After some explanations, then we got the answer: the waitress tried to explain Jacqueline about 'Kangkung'. She explained it as 'water-spinach', though her accent made Jacqueline understood 'Wasser-Spinne' (=Water Spider) instead of 'Wasser-Spinat' (=Water Spinach)..We laughed our belly out about it. Well, Jacqueline might have some thought after I showed her a picture of chicken claws on the window of the Sze Chuan restaurant before!

It was a great day. Great event, great food. With the note from Jacqueline, in the middle of the 'battle' with our food. She looked at us and said : "Two happy indonesian girls!" and made a big smile, laughing at our food orgy...
